3 Holiday Staging Tips: Selling your Home during the Holidays

mb362436

As photographers we see many beautiful homes on the market, and one thing that always catches a buyer's eye is simplicity. Even with simplicity in mind, you don't have to give up holiday decorating when your home is on the market. Here are some tips on how to use holiday decor in your favor as you sell your home.

  1. Holiday Curb Appeal

Door wreaths and garland that are mostly greenery are beautiful decorative touches that draw people into your home. If you want to string lights on your home be sure to choose subtle white lights to highlight the exterior of your home and not distract from it. Decorating the exterior of your home allows you to feature the beautiful parts of your home and draw in potential buyers..

  1. Declutter

Before adding any holiday decor to the interior of your home first declutter. Remove any surface clutter on the floors and countertops/tables. Don’t forget to stash away tissue boxes, remotes, tiny floor mats, electronics, small appliances, etc. The more open spaces on flat surfaces, counters and floors, the more of your home the buyer will be able to see. The more they see, the more likely they will be interested in buying.

  1. Decorate the Heart of the Home (Kitchen, Dining and Living area)

Place simple greenery or a holiday centerpiece to the dining room table and garland over the mantle. Put a few neutral holiday touches in your kitchen. Keep your decorating elegant and simple and in the same color scheme as your home to compliment your home, not distract from it.

We hope this will help you as your prepare your home to sell during the holiday season.

Happy Holidays
